The Org Chart in my demo environment shows exactly the same as your first image. So I dont think anything is wrong.
Have you checked the versions for both enviroments. Click on the ? About as below and compare the versions. New versions sometimes introduce strikingly different looks in the user interface.

I just would want that its appearance sounds better.
