Auto fill lookup field if 1 match

Not sure if I'm missing something really simple with the new D365 version 9 (unified interface) and lookup fields.

We were using on premise D365 and any lookup fields when you searched for an "account" lets say and you typed in an "account number" and that resulted in a singular match in the lookup it auto filled the field with that one match and I could move onto the next field.

Now it appears that I can type in an "account number" and it shows me the 1 "account" but now I have to actually "click" on it to have it populate the lookup field on my entity before I can move to the next field.

Is this the only way it works now (without writing some possible jscript or something), I know it's just 1 click but it does kind of slow down the data entry when I have to click to move to the next field versus just typing in a value to easily move to the next field.

Any help/guidance is appreciated.

Thanks

Joel

Thanks for the replies.  Kind of a shame that they changed that functionality to auto fill that field on exactly 1 match.

The two tabs and 1 enter keystroke combination does work so at least that is all keyboard related so one technically wouldn't have to pickup the mouse to finish the process of selecting that value.

    Appreciate the responses

    Hi JRodencal,

That's by design, actually it just lists all possible options based on your input text,

there is no function to detect whether there is only one eligible record then do auto complete or fill.

We could only do it with unsupported jscript code(you said that jscript is not in consideration).

So I samely thought that ba365guy's answer(by keyboard switch) would be the best option to suit your requirement.

    Regards,

    Clofly

    Hi JRodencal

This is known behavior. The workaround is once you type in lookup, press tab twice and enter once. (2 tabs, 1 enter)

When using keyboard, 2 tabs & 1 enter is quite quicker than a mouse click (i feel).

The above works if there is one result based on what you typed in lookup.

Basically 2 tabs & 1 enter selects the top result
