Segmentation with text in body and an attachment

Hi,

As the title states, I would like to create a segment and attach a word document but also have text in the body of the email. As far as I can see now I can only do one or the other.

Is it possible to do both?

Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

Are you planning to handle it with code?

If yes, follow this guide from Saurav: saurav-nav.blogspot.com/.../send-mail-with-attachment-from-navision.html

Yes, you can attach files with the help of AddAttachment() in Codeunit 400 SMTP Mail.

    Hope it helps.

    Hi,

I wasn't planning to handle it with code, since the reason why I'm trying to make this happen is to have a work around for my main problem (so that we don't have to code).

Our sales quotes are big word documents (pictures, information etc.) which we have to edit fully before sending it to the customer. We would wish to be able to send those documents throughout the Sales Quote window which is build in NAV.  Sadly we cannot.

You are probably thinking; "why don't they use the Word-Report-Lay-out?" Well... we work with multiple documents for our sales quotes which not only differ in data from the Sales Quote window, but also differ in pictures and technical information etc.  And the Word-Report-Lay-out doesn't give you the option to switch from document lay-out that easily.

You kinda make your selection semi-permanent for the entire company when you set a default lay-out.

The Segment functionallity covers this problem (you can edit a selected template and it creates a single copy of that edited file, stored in NAV itself).

The only problem is, is that you cannot send a proper email with both body and attachment in that way, plus it also doesnt convert the document to a PDF.

I guess coding is our only way out sadly.
