Employer FICA problem

Posted on by 45

We have updated GP for round 2 but the check register report is still computing an incorrect FICA amount for Employer.  Has this been fixed?

    RE: Employer FICA problem

I've been doing this for a couple of clients who are on old versions. Did you try to manually install the TX.cab file or did you type the values via the user interface? I would want to look into the data tables to see the problem. You may be out of luck because of the actual changes in the calculation brought about by Obamacare. It's time to upgrade if they're on version 9 still trying to run payroll. Geesh - I'm afraid to ask what operating systems they are running on.

The contents of my UPR41302 looks like this:

TAXCODE TXFLGSTS TXTBLTYP TXTBLSEQ TXBRULMT TXBRKTAM RXBRKTRT TXBREXWG DEX_ROW_ID

    EFICM   NA     1 1 0.00000 0.00000 145000 0.00000 2490

    EFICS   NA     1 1 127200.00000 0.00000 620000 0.00000 2492

    FICAM   NA     1 1 200000.00000 0.00000 145000 0.00000 2489

    FICAM   NA     1 2 999999999.99000 0.00000 235000 0.00000 2162

    FICAS   NA     1 1 127200.00000 0.00000 620000 0.00000 2491

If you paste it into an excel spreadsheet it will be much easier to read. Exactly what isn't calculating correctly?

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

    RE: Employer FICA problem

Hi, what if someone is using GP 9.0 and therefore can't utilize the updates and has to do it manually?  I went ahead and entered manually in the Payroll Tax setup window but I still get an error saying FICA tables not found and paychecks can't be calculated.  Are there any other tables that I should also be working in to set up the FICA manually?

    Thanks,

    Alex

Loading the tax update code on all machines should fix this.

Did you load the new code as well as update the tax tables?

To make sure your tax tables are correct take a look at the percentages.

To open the appropriate window go to

Microsoft Dynamics GP >> Tools >> Setup >> System >> Payroll Tax

Make note of the Last Tax Update and the Last Tax Code Update on the Payroll Tax Setup window.

Select the tax code EFICS (if you don't have this, reinstall round 2), select the Filing Status Button in the lower rh corner of window.

The Payroll Tax Filing Status window will open.  Select the filing status NA and then select the tables button. The percentage should be 6.2

To check the employee percentage do the same thing as above after selecting the FICAS tax code.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie
