Hi,

I am CRM Developer that is working with different companies. I would like to know how to approach the situation with multiple companies, different crm instances on one server. Is it better to have different servers for each organization? Or can I have them all on the same server for developing? I currently have a backup of a SQL server and a CRM server for a large client with 12GB of data in the backups. I have two organizations I have been developing on one server.

Please advise if anyone has any insights.

If all the organizations you are developing against are on the same update rollup, one server with multiple organizations is probably OK. When you start getting into situations where each is on different update levels, really for the most accurate results, your development environment roll up level should match the production system. With the way CRM works with updates, the update is applied to all organizations on the server - this would require multiple servers. Not saying you couldn't develop against two organization on one server that have different patch levels, just be aware there will be instances where functionality is not the same.
