Multiple production databases in-cloud

Hi All,

We bought Business Central Premium license and at the moment by default there is only 1 production database and 3 sandboxes available for us to use.

Our CSP is located in Germany, where we have our HQ, thus we have production database of German localization - that is fine for us, but we have companies also in the USA. Canada. Mexico, Slovakia, Poland, etc. and we would like to migrate to BC in the USA, so I would install another database with USA localization (usually this database was taken from Microsoft Dynamics NAV download page when I was doing this on older NAV versions), but now I read that additional production database can be purchased, but DB has capacity of 4 GB. I don't understand, how this should work, because currently our PROD database takes 400 GB.

Can someone please explain how to purchase additional database and what is the capacity of database.

I guess extensions have to be deployed into both PROD databases, or am I wrong.

Thanks

Damjan

    Hi Steven,

I already read this, but still I am little confused. How do we migrate data in Table Attachment takes 32 GB capacity.

What is the optimal solution, since users need to have all attachments available for any job (project) that has ever been inserted in NAV?

    Thank you

    BR Damjan

Well, your question did not mention anything about migrating data...

From where to where do you need to migrate the attachments?

    Hi,

from current PROD database (NAV 2013 R2, T5062 - Attachment) into the new DB in BC17.3.20469.20653 (premium cloud subscription).

Same table ID exist also on BC database, as I have seen it. I would use same table, if possible.

    Thank you

    Damjan

    Hello,

    Your starting point is here.

    Thanks.

    Hi

thanks for feedback. Have read the documentation and I do understand it much better, now.

In case database exceeds 80GB a ISV is notified and in case customer would like to expand database size, it is heavily priced at 40 EUR/GB/month. This is insane, but per this document any file attachments such as PDF, Excel files, etc. are exampt from database capacity, at least for now. Later on, it is going to be charged at special price.

    cloudblogs.microsoft.com/.../

So, we are proceeding to migration in-cloud for our company in the USA, thus I configure Sandbox and 1 PROD environment, for now.

After I am finishing with migration to Sandbox database, will check database size and perhaps I will not migrate all the attachments from current database, just to keep the cost of BC to some acceptable level.

    Thanks, Damjan
