Hi
I'm struggling to get a valid answer on how to licence External Users for the following 2 similar scenarios and would really appreciate feedback or advice from other people's experiences:
Scenario 1: Dynamics 365 Customer Service and a bespoke website
- Website has a Power App form allowing a customer to enter a case
- Authentication is handled by the web site [not Dynamics 365 Customer Service]
- However, website will map their user identity to that of a Dynamics 365 Customer Service contact
Scenario 2: Power App custom application with CDS for managing cases and a bespoke website
- Again, website has a Power App form allowing a customer to enter a case
- Authentication is handled by the web site [the Power App]
- However, website will map their user identity to that of a CDS contact
Scenario 1, I believe, the external user would require a Dynamics 365 licence because, even though they are not directly accessing the Dynamics instance, they are in fact updating fields within Dynamics.
Scenario 2, the end result is the same, but I believe I can licence the external users through Power App Portal logins.
But the information available in the October 2020 is so ambiguous and almost contradictory.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated
