When a post is deactivated I want a date to be modified on this post to todays date. I figured I could do this by either reacting to the fact that the deactivate button is being pressed or to modify the post when it is deactivated. I wonder how to do these things or if you have a better solution that I could take part of.
Regards Eric
Version I am using is Microsoft Dynamics 365 version 1612.

Thanks alot! =D
Hi Eric Ahlstroem,
Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online is the best version for you to select in that filter.
You cannot achieve this solution with JavaScript unless you modify the deactivate button with Ribbon Workbench so that it runs custom JavaScript when it is clicked. I do not recommend doing this as a Plug-in is the best approach for solving this problem.
Can it be done with Javascript btw?
Thanks! Why I asked about version is because I don't know what to put when I am asking a question in this field.
Hi Eric Ahlstroem,
You will not require a custom ribbon button if you build a Plug-in.
Microsoft Dynamics 365 version 1612 is a newer version than Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2016. A list of Microsoft Dynamics CRM versions is available on this Wikipedia page.
Thanks for the quick answer, do I have to do a custom ribbon button for this if I only want the plugin to happen when a certain type of record is deactivated?
Btw, what version is it that I am using if it says "Microsoft Dynamics 365 version 1612". Is this Microsoft Dynamics 2016?
Hi Eric Ahlstroem,
You can do it by triggering a Plug-in to run when the record is deactivated. The Plug-in will need to set the date field to todays date.
