How can I tell what field in what table a form control is attached to?

Check them out. Each document comes with a brief description of some fields and illustrated guides linking screens and table fields.
Open the form. Go into customization 'mode' (Ctrl-Alt-c). Click on control. Press F4, or right click 'properties'. Look down property list for 'field name', and you will see what I maps to in the database.
