AX 2012 R3 Windows Updates - Performance issues

Hi all

We have seen a performance issues on our environments, and we thing it has something to do with some Windows Updates from around middle of December 2017 and middle of january 2018. What we saw was that a environment that for some reason hadnt been updated since middle of december was 2x as fast as environments updated middle of january. We have tested in 3 different environments and the tests has always been with 1 AOS against 1 SQL. Once we patched the system that was fast it came down to same speed as the others. It is only Windows Updates that was installed.

Has anyone seen anything like this? We are almost 100% sure it has nothing to do with Spectra/Meltdown.

The AOS and SQL servers have the same kind of hardware, and is on the same network.

Hi,

did you check if it really hasn't something to do with the spec/melt patches and tried to disable them temporary? (Restart required)

The performance slowdown can range from 'nearly not detectable' up to 30% in rare cases.

But 50% is a really 'good' value which rather points to some other strange problem.

Maybe it's worth a try.

Btw: what's about newer updates?
