Discount Macros in POS

I have discount macros setup in our POS system so that we can discount items quickly with the press of a button. We also have Reason Codes in place to track discounts. The problem is: I setup the discount macro to discount the selected item by x% from current price but when no item is selected (the cursor is on the bottom line) I want it to apply the discount to the entire transaction. Instead, it is clearing all discounts when no item is selected. Does anyone know how I can achieve the desired result of having a single button which will discount either the item selected or all items in the transaction if no item is selected?

Okay, I figured out how to get it to work(ish) if you don't mind the discount macro only being able to discount from retail price.  Since the Discount from Retail Price radial is in the same location within the Discount Single Item option as the Discount by percentage (or whatever it's labeled) radial is in the Apply Discount to Transaction option, you can create a macro that clicks "Discount Single Item" then clicks "Discount from Retail Price". If you have a single item selected, it discounts that item. If you have no item selected, it attempts to click "Discount Single Item" but since it is greyed out, it will stay in the Apply Discount to Transaction option, then it clicks where Discount from Retail Price should be, which in this option is just discount by % and applies the discount to the entire transaction. Unfortunately I'm having another slightly unrelated issue with this for which I'll start another thread.

    Hi.

I believe You will not be able to achieve this with Macro's. Maybe if you use several buttons..., but still I think the best option (and maybe the most complete one) is to develop a .Net functionality and assign it to the POS button. This functionality can/will have the If-Then logic You want to apply (if no item selected then discount to whole transaction, if on Item then discount on that particular Item....).

Talk to Your RMS Partner for this, it should not be very difficult to be done.

    Hope this helps, BR, A.
