Local backup of Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement cloud data

Hi,

I would like to know how can I take local copy of weekly back up of my Dynamics 365 v9.2 CE data?

Tomorrow if I would (likely to happen) have to migrate from on-cloud to on-prem, I would have to migrate those data on my on-prem environment.

Basically every week I would be needing local back up copy of all of my data on my local hard disk.

Hi Salman,

With CRM 9.0, the product has moved to SQL Azure so you wont get option to download the backup file like in 8.2

Also the migration from Online to onprem will require further effort relating to user migration, removal of crm on-line only feature etc - so don't think a simple backup will suffice.

The best you can do is to opt for data replication tool which will sync your data to local DB.

DES is also an option by microsoft or Scribe which is 3rd party sol.

Azure Data Factory and SSIS are other ways which you can use - all depend upon volume you are trying to sync.

Dear Salman,

Microsoft offers data replication through Data Export Services. you can replicate your CE organization to Azure SQL Database. then you can also connect Azure SQL Database with On-Prem Organization. Similarly 3rd party solution providers (e,g, Scribe, Skyvia: https://skyvia.com/backup/dynamics-crm-backup) also offer backup/restore solutions from one environment to another. Downloading local copy of a backup is not supported.

Previously it was available on demand, but I guess this is not an option anymore.
