Reviews of any recent Microsoft AX 2017 conferences?

Hi:

I was just in a meeting with someone who told me that a team from another company just returned from a recent Microsoft AX conference (he is unable to tell me where) and that by the tone of the conference presentations things might not be looking all that well for the future of Dynamics AX.

Is anyone ware of this or other related concerns regarding the future of this product?

    Hi Steve Whyte,

You can check out the forthcoming changes in the D365 Roadmap yourself.

Hello Ludwig my good friend. I saw the link you sent but I was hoping to find some reference to a review of any recently held Microsoft AX International conference. It is my understanding that the conference did not go down well with discussions even centered around the future of the Microsoft AX product. Have you heard anything like this before?

Your information is very vague; it might well be some hoax. Why don't you ask your source about what was the name of the alleged conference and why they have such an opinion regarding the future of AX? We can't meaningfully address mere rumours.

Note that I'm note aware of any recent conference about Dynamics AX.

This is now the second time I hear similar things in the past month, the other one was coming from another company, where due to an acquisition they have decided to phase out a stable, global template-based AX implementation and start using SAP instead. People started bad-mouthing AX without any background and true insights, thinking the project was not going well and the product is flawed, but it is on the contrary - the quality of the implementation is one of the best I have seen.

I would classify your second-hand information as made-up, pure speculation and rumor similar to the above case, unless you state your sources.

It is a fact that management is doing reorganization of the company, and some people are getting transferred or let go within Microsoft, but it has nothing to do with Dynamics 365 for Operations as it is one of their prime focus right now.

The last time I was in Redmond high profile Microsoft members told me that it is not just AX that they are investing in, but the whole internal workings of the products used within the corporate is being transitioned to be on the platform built for Dynamics 365 for Operations, and they are focusing their attention on the Cloud / Business Solutions area, where they could serve any size of business from small to enterprise.

This involves some changes for the AX we knew back in the days which was fully customizable, some areas are becoming canned and the code overlayering is getting locked down, now development will need to be extension-based, which makes customization easier to upgrade, but a bit more challenging to implement.
