Data Management - Upload

Hi All,

Could someone please suggest an import/export method that makes data upload easier?  I always have an error here and an error there.  It has always a struggling task for me.

When you get an error message, how do you know what the error means?  Example, "The data value violates integrity constraints".  It's so vague.  What constraints? What should it be?

Also, can you export a vendor record, for example, then use these fields to import it back in?

Thanks so much!

    Hi There,

Datamanagement is the best tool out there. You can do so much with it and its very powerful

"The data value violates integrity constraints" - This means its either an Enum or EDT for which the values provided by you arent valid. You can also skip validations on import using check boxes on the entity itself

I would suggest first creating an export of the entity that you want to later import to get the template and then do the necessary changes.

As suggested by Sukrut and Manoj, you can use data management for all your import and export activities as MS introduces large number of data entities to manage data import and export. Regarding the error you posted - you need to check if your file has invalid values for the mandatory fields for that entity.

    Thanks,

    Sangram

    Kim,

I don't know any way where you can make messages more detailed but when you get "The data value violates integrity constraints" error, check mandatory fields in the table. Generally either a mandatory field is left blank or value of a field is over its character limit.

We can also help with experience we got.

What entity will you use? Maybe we used it before and can share templates/rules with you.

I have Map source to staging, but not Map staging to target.  Could you please provide screenshot on how you got to Map staging to target?  Thanks

Yes, I did; but the error message was so vague.  I didn't know what it meant.  That was why I reached out for help.
