    HLHOG,

So you have some contacts which you link the Company/Account to your company?

    It does make sense.

Yes, so that for this one, you need the subgrid to filter it.

And btw in your Account you also have the related activities? Because of the incoming email?

    Hi Aileen.

Thanks again. In this case, some of my contacts are CRM users. They also work for our customers so there are emails that are not related to the customers. Its relate to our company. Does this make sense?

Please let me know if you have any other suggestions.

    RE: Set Regarding for Contact

    Hi HLHOG,

If you want to show activities just related to this Contact, as mentioned before, the CRM behavior, will also show activities related to the Account, this is the point and advantage of social pane for most people, but I think not in your case.

But if you only want to see the Contact Email activities, by the 'regarding' field, you cannot use social pane, you need to add subgrid to display only activities related to THIS CONTACT only.

May I know why you don't want to show activities from the Contact's account as well?

Let's say your contact working for ABC Corp then ABC Corp sent email to you.

When you open the contact, you can see email sent by his company, this is can be advantage point, but in your case, is not?

    Thanks.

    Hi Aileen,

Thanks again for your suggestion. I try the way you mentioned above but I do not see the purpose of adding a sub-grid. I'd like to keep the Social Pane on both the Contact/Account forms and I only want email, task, phone call shows up in a Contact's "Activity" not the Account.

    Is this possible?

Sorry if I misunderstood. Thank you

    RE: Set Regarding for Contact

    Hi HLHOG,

This is the Account and Contact behavior, to show the activities (a rollup activities) from the record itself plus the regarding Account/Contact as well. And also I think will show Activities related to the Case or Opportunity as well if the customer/potential customer related to them is this Account/Contact as well.

This is actually good for seeing what happened to single record from 360 degree and rollup view.

So the activities shown will be not only by "regarding" field. This feature even often be wanted by customers for other entities, like Lead or custom Entities, while for the moment CRM only has this feature for Account/Contact.

This behavior will be appearing in the Activity Social Pane in the main form or Associated View

If you only want to show only Email activities from a contact by "regarding" field only you can have workaround:

    - Now edit the Form, in the form editor please put/insert a subgrid, in the data source is the Email entity.

    - Save and publish it

    - Recommended to not using Chrome.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks.
