How to set privileges for Project Manager

Hello,

I have a problem with Project Manager security role. I would like Project Manager sees all project but he should have access to edit only his projects. I set the privileges like this:

so he is able to "write" only records which are assigned to him.

But despite settings he can't edit projects, which owner he is.

When I change privileges to:

He is able to edit all projects.

What to do? How to set privileges to PM can edit only his projects?

I want to add that Project Manager is an owner. Projects are not created by Project Manager.

I have the same question (0)

    Hi Iza,

    Thank you for your question.

First let me clarify the privilege levels as per the documentation:

    docs.microsoft.com/.../security-roles-privileges

pastedimage1593595785877v1.png Local This access level gives a user access to records in the user's business unit.

pastedimage1593595812205v2.png  Basic. This access level gives a user access to records that the user owns, objects that are shared with the user, and objects that are shared with a team that the user is a member of.

So based on the above, your expectation is correct for Basic privilege, we expect the user assigned Basic Write level for an entity to be able to edit the records he owns or shared with him or his team. It's not expected that he is unable to edit the entity records he owns.

Can you please confirm if this security role is directly assigned to the user you are testing with or if it's assigned to a team he is in?

    Hello Iza,

You should also check the value stored in the Owner field on Project. Owner field and PM field are not related. Only the owner field drives who can see what (obviously together with business units and security roles). So you may want to make sure that the value in the Owner field is the same as in the PM field (manually or via workflow).

    I hope it helps.

    Pozdrowienia,

    Matthew
