Renaming CRM AD Security Groups

Does anyone know what breaks, if anything, if a renaming of the CRM AD Security Groups occurs? Would a reinstall be required? Will it impact new Orgs being created later?

AD security group name is used in multiple places to control all the security for all crm users and reports. If you really want to give friendly name i suggest you to create security groups in AD before installation and using install config to install crm.

Hello GL_MIKE,

I would recommend following msdn.microsoft.com/.../hh699830.aspx where we can specify Custom value for Security Groups, however I believe you have to reinstall CRM Server through XML Configuration File(Unattended Installation).

According to this article, AD Groups created by CRM, "can either move the security groups into a specific Organizational Unit for better organization, or rename them to something that you can easily identify. These groups are tied back to CRM by GUID, so you can move or rename them without issues."
