Error when Importing Update Organisation Spreadsheet

Posted on by 2,095

Hi All

I'm having the following error message when importing an updated organisation spreadsheet into CRM:

"Invalid Format in Import File"

Let me just run through the process of what I'm trying to do:

1.Export a static spreadsheet of all organisations in our system with their respective owners.
2.Filter it by individual owners, send it out to them and let them update any of the columns in the organisation spreadsheet
3.When I get each of the updated spreadsheets, I would then try to import them into the CRM

This is where I'm getting the import error. I found the Guid and suspected someone might of changed it so I exported the spreadsheet again and individually copy the columns from my updated spreadsheet into the newly exported one making sure not to touch the guid and it still gives me the import error.

I then tried to export the spreadsheet and then immediately try to import it back in as it is and it seems to work fine. Is there any formatting errors or things I need to be aware of when importing back into the system a updated spreadsheet?

    Hi All

I've found an interim solution. I think someone from my organisation might of pasted some non supported code when adding the website url. I saved it to CSV copied the saved columns from CSV back into the spreadsheet file and then imported back into the CRM. This seems to have worked and all records were then updated.

    Hi Prashant

I've tried saving it as a CSV format and importing it back in. What then happens is  that instead of updating the records, it creates new ones or it would detect duplication and not upload at all. It's really strange as the guid from column A, B and C are still there

    Hi Mike

Can you save your file in CSV (comma, delimited) and then try importing. Let me know, if the error still persists

Just an update guys. I've now tried exporting the spreadsheet, update one column, import it back in, see if it works then export the spreadsheet again, update another column, import it back in etc. I've identified that it appears to be a column we have for people to enter a website url. Is there any special characters that Microsoft Dynamics cannot identify that could be in the website url?
