D365 Sync - Defect found - How to clear out table Item Unit Group List aka Unit Group table 5400

Posted on by 20

How can the Item Unit Group Table be cleared out of all Orphaned records? Table 5400

  • There is no BC UI with a Delete record option (like you can with the Item Unit of Measure) to manually clear out Orphans.
  • There is no option In PowerAutomate to delete from this table
  • There is no option in Virtual Tables to expose this table to delete a record

(And no, I do not have experience with AL code)

To be clear, and to help those readers where Dataverse/D365 Sync is a new topic. Items in BC can be sync'd to BC from CRM and to CRM from BC. The new Multiple Units of Measure feature in BC now appears to be a permanent OOTB feature (and makes a mess of CRM Unit Groups and Measures imo). No, this BC Sync feature cannot be turned off.

When you create an Item in BC in the latest version the Item creation process, once you apply a Base Unit of Measure, will add that Unit of Measure to several fields on the Item card including Sales Unit of Measure (for non-inventory). This process will also Create a CRM Unit Group connected to the Item Unit Group List in BC and will create or Sync a Unit of Measure in CRM which is coupled to a Unit Of Measure in CRM.

If you delete the Item in BC, the associated Item Unit Group List record will be deleted. which is great. However deleting Items from Configuration Packages via Excel import cause a defect in this process whereby Orphans records are not removed from the Table.

you can use config. packs to delete table data.

use an excel file with 1 record and when you import it in the config. pack select Delete Table Record Before Processing option. This will delete all table data and replace it with the 1 record in the excel file. Manually delete the Item related to the 1 record and that should delete table 5400 entirely
