Unable to Open Activity Records Directly in Views

Hi everyone,

I'm encountering an issue with the Activity entity view in my CRM. When I attempt to open a record by clicking on it, nothing happens. However, if I open the record in a new tab, it works as expected. This issue specifically affects the "Subject" field of the Activity entity. Other lookup fields in the same view allow me to open records without any problems.

This behavior is consistent across all activity views.

I've also tried creating a new model-driven app to check if the issue persists, and unfortunately, it does.

Does anyone have any insights into what might be causing this issue?

Thank you for your help.

I've not seen this behavior, so not sure if this is widespread and my clients are getting lucky or if it has been resolved since this thread is from back in September.

If you all are still experiencing this issue, I would recommend submitting a ticket to Microsoft. These forums are worked on by volunteers and not by Microsoft employees, so I would not expect an official response to your problem in this thread.

    Hello
Here are some possible causes and solutions:
    1. JavaScript Customization Issue
    • Check if there’s any JavaScript customization affecting the "Subject" field.
    • Solution: Temporarily disable scripts and test again.
    1. Form or View Configuration Issue
    • The "Subject" field might have incorrect navigation settings.
    • Solution: Verify field settings in the View Editor and ensure it's properly linked.
    1. Custom Ribbon/Button Overrides
    • A custom command or ribbon override might be interfering with default behavior.
    • Solution: Use the Ribbon Workbench to check and reset changes.
    1. Cache or Browser Issues
    • Cached scripts could be causing issues.
    • Solution: Clear browser cache, try Incognito Mode, or test in another browser.
    1. Security Role Restrictions
    • If the user lacks proper read permissions, the click action might be blocked.
    • Solution: Check the security role and confirm access to the Activity entity.
    1. Known Platform Bug
    • If none of the above work, it could be a Microsoft issue.
    • Solution: Check Microsoft Community Forums or raise a support ticket.

    Thank you!
