Context** This is prior to go live migration from AX2012R3 to D365 F&O. I have been able to successfully configure the file type to upload an attachment to the desired storage solution, Sharepoint, Blob Storage, etc.
In my case I want to use Sharepoint since we have a lot of company related documents stored here. What I have found is it is easy to create a new File Type for an attachment an point the upload location to a specific Sharepoint Document Library of Folder. The challenge is the ERP will just "dump" all the files into the Sharepoint document library and it isn't very organized from the back end. If I move the file from one folder to another after upload I will lose the file in D365, it doesn't recognize that the file has been moved. (Okay not a huge deal). That said I still cannot edit a file path in D365 once it has been uploaded, or be able to browse the "upload" file path at the time of uploading. Anyone have any suggestions?
The goal is to be able to access documents/attachments from the back end Sharepoint document libraries and folders to be able to bulk download or edit accordingly. Ex. We might want to pull all of our Vendors Packing Slip documents for review vs. going through each PO one by one. We might have a specification sheet on multiple Product Masters that require the same modification to their word document and can bulk edit.
Anyways is anyone using Sharepoint for their document storage in D365 F&O and if so have you been able to configure any advancements to the standard configuration for better backend filing and organization in the document libraries?
Thank you! ps. I would classify myself as a user and not a developer.
