How to clear Foreign Exchange balance on subledger

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

We have some delinquent accounts with originating currency in USD.  When we wrote off these accounts the statement of account is at 0 balance, this is what we wanted.

Our function currency is CAD. When we run the historical aging report on these accounts there is a functional balance for these accounts.  How can we write off this amount for these accounts?  So it is totally at 0 balance on both originating and functional currency.

    Hi

What I would do is to put through a credit note that totals the amount of the residual balances in your functional currency (CAD) for each customer with the problem.  So if a customer had 5 invoices you wrote off and left 0.01 on each invoice, make the credit note for a total of 0.05 CAD.

Be sure to apply the credit note to the invoices.  When you perform the paid transaction removal, the amounts will move to history.

You should try this out in your test company to be sure.

Also check and make sure that you have your default Rounding Difference and Rounding Write off accounts populated.
