AOS Service crashing when Workflow message processing batch job is enabled

Hi there,

Environment : AX2012 R3 CU13

single AOS and single SQL db server

Strange thing happened this morning.

The AOS service crashed and while checking even viewer, there was an event with event id 1000

Faulting application name: Ax32Serv.exe, version: 6.3.6000.4444, time stamp: 0x5a807feb

Faulting module name: sqlncli11.dll, version: 2011.110.2100.60, time stamp: 0x4f36511a

Exception code: 0xc00000fd

Fault offset: 0x00000000000b1619

Restarted the AOS service and it started working. But, we noticed that the workflow was not working properly.

I checked the workflow batches, found that Workflow message processing batch job was in "Error" stage.

When I restarted the batch job, the AOS service crashes again.

I opened the ticket with MS support, still waiting for them,

Anyone have faced this before, appreciate any support

I submitted the crash dumb to MS support, still waiting for the response.

The strange thing is, the system is quite stable if I dont run the Workflow message processing batch job. The moment I try to start, the ASO crashes immediately.

Another question,

If I update the Kernel version on the AOS server, do I have to update all the clients?

When I update the kernel, do I have to update Application version also? I know upgrading the application version is not an easy task as we have to resolve so many code conflicts between the layers.

Any relation between these two?

What is the latest Kernel version for AX2012R3 CU13?

MS support asked me to update the Kernel to latest version as they have degraded my case to Severity B due to this.

Any support would be appreciated.

Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics AX\60\Server\CGSGROUPAX\Bin\Ax32Serv.exe

Faulting module path: C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\sqlncli11.dll

From above information, issue is related with SQL, like connection, incorrect SQL statement, etc

For crash issue, please submit ticket to Microsoft. We will guide you to collect memory dump and find root cause.

There is no error message in the log. In fact, there is no log for this job

Hi Riyas,

When the batch job was in an error state, did you review the error logs from the batch history form?
