    Hi Meyvin,

To signify the important contacts for a given lead- use the out of box Stakeholder subgrid, where you can associate as many Contacts as you wish.

    Hi Daren ,

Thanks for getting back i do agree we can add as stakeholders ,

But when you try to add new stakeholders it goes to contact page  , where you add new contact details , but at account field you cant find new account as the lead is not activated yet...

Ex: customer service people calls Companies

1 they create a lead with contact person and company details

2 if they want to add one more contact with that company ,, they will be able to create a contact for that lead but cannot find new company details in look up as the lead is not activated yet ..

3 if lead is qualified only primary contact will be associated with account , rest of the contact will be not associates as there is no relation .

    Thanks

Sure - but please understand how the Lead entity is designed in CRM.  Refer to see detail - http://crmbook.powerobjects.com/basics/microsoft-dynamics-crm-sales-process/leads/

Leads is designed to be your pre-qualifier for data entry to your Contact database.  Rather than flood your DB with unqualified contacts/prospects - use the Lead entity to process those.  By design it will create an Opportunity - and create 1 account/contact (depending on if you designated an existing customer).

To achieve what you are looking for - couple different approaches

To store more contacts info at the field level on the Lead - add more sets of contact fields (first name, last name, email, phone, etc) to the lead form.  Then use workflow to create those contact records when the lead is qualified.  (There are more considerations if going down this path).  This approach would allow you to add a second or third contact info to the lead.  (if more than 2 or three - this might not be best way)

Use stakeholders - however it really works best when the Contact already exists.  If contact does not exist - I would use Quick create at top first to create Contact - save - then use Stakeholders to add to lead.

Not recommended but possible - add a Many to Many relationship subgrid on Lead form - between Lead/Contact.  There are other limitations/considerations to this approach.

If your sales prospects are more complex, where you need to manage many contact relationships - and you don't like the out of box lead qualify process - you might want to consider looking at coding/scripting to help your team enter data more efficiently.  Or not use leads at all and use Opportunities - and relate only to existing contacts/accounts.  Would still use Stakeholder function.

I had a similar situation with a customer recently and for all the reasons already described didn't want to create a relationship from lead to contact. As really if you want to start associating multiple contacts with a lead it should be qualified.

BUT, in the example I had they needed to record just ONE additional contact before qualification. Say the lead they had was for the wrong person, when they found who should be the "real" contact they wanted to record it without removing the details of the first contact.

The compromise solution was to add some additional contact details directly on the lead. (Not ideal but worked.)  Then have a workflow that runs on status change of the lead. If the lead status has become "qualified" we then used these second contact details to create a 2nd contact against the account.

This worked but I'd only recommend if you wanted one extra contact. If multiple contacts are needed against a lead then probably best to qualify.

    As an alternative idea .....

If you wanted to see stakeholders from the originating lead, when looking at the account. You could try adding a quick view form for the lead to the account and include in that the sub grid of stakeholders. (Using originating lead field which is on the account.) They still wouldn't be related to the account but you could see them from the account.
