uploading from GP10.0 to GP2013 and analysis codes

Posted on by 115

Hi, we are planning to upgrade from GP10.0 to GP2013 shortly and have been advised to use the analytical codes in the new version rather than the analysis codes (mda) we are currently using. The main reasons being we can budget off them, report easily in the Management Reporter…  My questions are:

• Is there an easy way to transfer the Analysis codes into Analytical codes so we don’t lose the ability to do variance analysis on the historic data?

• Is it easier to pull reports out of the analytical reports than the analysis codes? We currently  have difficulty doing data dumps at transaction level through Smartlist with the analysis codes for each code shows as a transaction line when we would prefer one transaction line with all the codes on it

    Thanks

    Hi Benjamin,

The transition from MDA to AA is a manual process to move from MDA to AA, it is described in the KB article #897742. It explains that you will need to manually set up all MDA groups and codes in Analytical Accounting.

Regarding your historical MDA data, you can enter a beginning balance for your dimension codes in AA. The following KB article describes how to enter those beginning balances for AA dimension codes:928924 How to enter beginning balances for your dimension codes in Analytical Accounting in Microsoft Dynamics GP

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,
