Assign privilege

Hi All,

I have a security role profile where users can only Assign Activities to his Business Units and Child Business Units. The security role that I am using is Salesperson (out of the box), I modified the Activities Row for all permissions to have Parent: Child Business Units.

As soon as security roles and BU were setup, I proceeded to test and when I try to assign an Activity to a higher BU I got an error message indicating I don’t have the correct privilege (this is perfect as it was what I was expecting), but for my surprise when you click OK at the error message, then click Save the Activity will save. I don’t understand why it will save as I am not allowed to assign to a higher BU.

At the beginning I thought it was a bug so I went ahead and installed a new 2013 Organization and got the same behavior. Then, I setup another Org but this time in CRM 2011 and got the same behavior (without error message). I have no customizations in either environments and since I get the same results in 2011 and 2013 I can only assume this is by design. Does anyone will know what the logic is behind this behavior?

Many thanks for your time.

Nro - Surprised! I did a POC for this and found same issue.

Putting efforts to resolve this. Also please update if you found any good one.
