We recently encountered an error with a client that has multiple companies and all are (unwanted) attached to Management Reporter - still running GP2013 - soon to move to GP2015.
The migration from FRx to MR seem(ed) to work correctly and we are able to generate all the reports. Of course we lost a couple, but that was to be expected.
The other day the client attempted to Open the Row Definition window on a report to add a new GL account.
The error message stated that there was a Data Framework error. The client immediately shut out of GP, out of MR and then she had the IT staff down the SQL Server, the FILE Server and she finally found the MR Server and got that one as well.
Four hours later - due to some 'screw up' with one of the server coming back on line - she went back into MR and encountered the same error. To say she was mad is an understatement.
So, we were contacted and we started to research this problem and the only things we can find state that the Fiscal Periods in the company databases must be out of alignment.
Now, call me crazy but why in the heck would the fiscal periods in one company matter to the fiscal periods in another company. Reading more I discovered they did not want any 'screw ups' in the data. But GP must catch that right? Well according to my reading it is possible to have a mix up and for the GP application not to catch them.
So, I spent the weekend, some 20 hours going over every company, every fiscal periods and ensuring that there were no overlaps. 20 some companies and in some cases 10 plus years of data. I am not seeing very well at this time.
Long and short - there is nothing that appears wrong with the data. I read a number of postings that provided script to print out the Fiscal Period tables, but they all match the Fiscal Period data in the Application.
ONLY Thing I could find that was a little strange is one company had a two year long Fiscal Period - but all the days were covered and there were no overlaps.
Any suggestions at this time would be much appreciated.
