How to identify who shared a Custom Dashboard with me

Hi all,

Sharing information with colleagues within Dynamics CRM is really nice feature.

With people come and go within an organization I was wondering if there is a way to see who did share a Custom Dashboard with you/me.

For Views I can use the Advanced Find, select the entity, Saved Views and select the Active Views Shared with Me to see who is the owner.

Since it is not possible to select a Dashboard entity I was wondering if there is a way to determine who did share this with me and in addition perhaps who was the original creater of the dashboard.

Looking foward to you replies and thank you in advance

    Hi,

I don't believe this is possible using CRM UI. Such information is for sure in database, so you can get it using CRM SDK (if you are admin) - Dashboard are called UserForm in CRM SDK. I also think that you should be able to prepare Custom-FetchXML based report that will show all Dashboards you have access to with columns CreatedBy And OwnerId, that will tell you who is the owner and who is the creator.

This is another good examples where a good governance process is required on this platform. You could try to get to that data programatically, but that involved building custom components, adding unnecessary complexity. Through governance, you could enforce rules around either sharing down on RBS (e.g. team lead to team members), or something as simple as putting in the description the creator details.

We've built in the past a module to manage and control sharing of views and dashboards, with "unsubscribe" functionality, but that was a little project in itself.
