How to change HELO/EHLO for server-side synchronization

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I have a problem with an instance of CRM 2015. I try to activate server-side email sync but it doesn't work yet. After failed tests of mailboxes I traced pop and smtp communication. At one point in smpt communication the smpt server sends following message:

Recipient address rejected: Mail appeared to be SPAM or forged.
Ask your Mail/DNS-Administrator to correct HELO and DNS MX settings or to get removed from DNSBLs;
MTA helo: [instance name], MTA hostname: unknown[ip address] (helo/hostname mismatch)

If I'm not mistaken this problem should be solved when the IP would be used for HELO/EHLO instead of the currently used instance name - which is also the name of the computer it is installed on.

Is there any way to change the HELO value the CRM sends while establishing the smtp connection - without changing the instance name?
