Automation for Planner tasks notifications

Is there a way to automate receiving notifications in teams channels for when a task in the Teams - Planner tab changes status, at the moment it only sends notifications when the task is complete, but is there a way to receive a notification when the task moves from "to do" to "in progress"?

Unfortunately, as of now, Planner in Microsoft Teams only sends notifications when a task is marked as complete or when someone assigns you a new task. There's no built-in way to get notifications for status changes like when a task moves from "To Do" to "In Progress."

    Alternative Solutions

While there isn't a direct solution within Planner, you can consider these alternatives:

    • Power Automate: You could potentially create a Power Automate flow to monitor changes in Planner and send a Teams notification when a task's status changes to "In Progress." This would require some technical setup but offers greater customization.
    • Third-Party Apps: There might be third-party apps or integrations in the Teams app store that provide enhanced Planner notifications, including status change alerts. You can explore the app store to see if any suitable solutions exist.
    • Manual Check-ins: If the above options aren't feasible, consider setting up regular manual check-ins within the team to review task progress. This ensures everyone is aware of status updates even without automated notifications.
