GP Company Backup

I know I should be able to run company backups within the GP application, through Microsoft Dynamics--Maintenance--Backup.  However, when I click on backup I receive a message that states "You must be on the server  machine to perform this task".

GP is installed on an offsite terminal server, and I connect to the server with admin rights through remote desktop connection.  Our GP company databases are stored on a separate SQL server.  Is it still possible to run backups within the application from my remote connection?  I feel like I am missing something obvious.

 Thanks!

Log into GP on the SQL Server machine and try.

Interesting, Knowledgebase reports this problem as having been fixed several versions ago:

    TechKnowledge Content

    Issue Summary:

Backup/Restore feature doesn't work in mixed case environment

    Issue Detail:

If your machine name is fndmachine and your SQL server reports your machine name as FNDMACHINE you will not be able to get into the backup/restore windows. To recreate: 1. Name your machine in lower case. 2. install SQL Server and the server install of GP 7.5 on the same machine 3. Go to File > Backup Results: Message stating "You must be on the server to perform this task" Expected results: Ability to backup your databases.

    Status of Resolution:

This issue has been resolved with Service Pack 1 for release 7.5.

I have never run into this issue. Are you in a mixed case environment? If you enter select @@servername, what do you get? Does it match the computer name?
