D365F Sales and Inventory Forecast via Cortana intelligence

I've got a Cronus d/b where I would like to demo the 'Sales and Inventory Forecast', ( https://madeira.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/ui-extensions-sales-forecast/ ) which should appear in the fact box to the right of each item card.

For every item in the system Cortana refuses to display a forecast, giving excuses of either 'Variance too high' or 'Not enough historical data'.

I've tried re-running the forecast several times and increasing the acceptable variance from the default 35% to 50% (ludicrous but I wanted to get some output).  I've also tried going in and, for one item, putting in additional purchases and sales over the last five months, in an effort to give Cortana data to forecast from. But that approach hasn't worked and I haven't got time to insert many purchases and sales, not sure how many Cortana would need anyway.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how I might get a forecast to show successfully?

(This demo d/b was set up over a month ago. Would that cause these problems and, if I created a fresh instance of the demo d/b, would that likely solve the problem?  I'm reluctant to do this if I don't have to because there are things in the current d/b that I don't want to abandon.)

Thanks,

M

    Hi Malcolm,

I am facing the same issue, keep on getting "Variance is too high"

I posted some sales orders for 3 items in Jan , feb and march months of 2018.

my work date is 01/01/2019, I am getting variance is too high message.

    Not showing anything.

Can you advise on this. i put variance 99

    Historical period 24.

    Thanks and Regards

Thanks Brian, by changing the work date to 1st April and settling for a higher acceptable variance I was able to obtain forecast data for a few of the items, which is enough to be able to proceed with my demo.  Many thanks for your help.

If you are using the Cronus demo database, try setting your work day to 4/1.  You may still need to play around with your variance limits.  Let me know if this helps, I have been playing around with this feature as well to demo.
