QS Rules ERROR after every Z REPORT?

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 715

Could anyone please help with a problem where having at our store?

If we run a z report at the end of the day, after there are sale on it, we always get this error:

run-time error '5'

Error #3709

Method '~' of object '' failed

..... if needed I can provide the rest of the error message.

If I just run a blank z report with no sale, this doesn't happen.

Thanks much!

NIck

RE: QS Rules ERROR after every Z REPORT?

I transferred the database over to another server. The problem still exists. I am wondering if maybe it could be the result of a bad router or switch? One register showed error 3709. The other register ran the z report fine with no errors. Any ideas?

I have finally had the chance to move the database back to our old database pc, which is now a second back office pc. So we will see within the next 24 hours whether it works out. I will keep updated. Thanks for the help!

The database and Sql Server are two different things.  The database is all the information and Sql Server is the engine that gives you access to that data.  They work together but one can have a problem while the other is working fine.

I suggest you make a backup of the database and restore another computer.  Then point a station to that location and test the Z process again (several times atleast).

If that solves the problem, then you should uninstall sql server and reinstall..

If you can, I would suggest downloading the lastest version of Sql Server 2008 R2 with SP2.

    www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx

You will also need the backward compatibility pack.

If the workstation\server is 32 bit, use X86 Package (SQLServer2005_BC.msi)

    download.microsoft.com/.../SQLServer2005_BC.msi

If the workstation\server is 64 bit, use X64 Package (SQLServer2005_BC_x64.msi)

    download.microsoft.com/.../SQLServer2005_BC_x64.msi

RE: QS Rules ERROR after every Z REPORT?

    We are already running 2008r2

And I have been running it with 60 seconds timeout on all registers. But, it is still happening

    :/

Would I maybe need to install a fresh copy of sql server 2008 r2 after a database backup. Or is the database already damaged, and the problem will follow the backup?

    Thanks for the help ed!

Ok, now that we know some more information.  I have another question.  Which version of sql server are you running.  Sql 2005, Sql 2008, or Sql 2008R2.

if you are running a version older than 2008R2, I recommend upgrading to 2008R2.

Also under administrator program.  Can you goto Configuration and make sure the timeout is atleast 60 seconds.

    MAKE A BACKUP FIRST

to upgrade to 2008R2 follow these steps:

    download the installer

    www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx

Then follow the upgrade steps here.

    msdn.microsoft.com/.../ms144267(v=sql.105).aspx

Make sure to select the default instance (MSSQLSERVER usually)

RE: QS Rules ERROR after every Z REPORT?

We do not have any transactions on hold when running the z reports.

But we do you hold transactions quite often. The version we are running is 2.0.1006

We are a liquor store with 1 database/manger computer, 1 manager only computer, and 3 registers.

We don't use layaway, workorder, or any other options like that really.

I was running a custom web manager on the manager only station. It's purpose was for checking inventory via phone's hooked up to wifi. It connects with the php sql server 3.0 drivers and runs on php.

I have tried not using it, and restarting all of the computers. But to no avail, the error returns.

What option do I have to fix the sql server if there's a problem with it?

Do you have any transactions on Hold when you are running the Z Report.

Also, what is the EXACT version of POS do you have?  2.0.????

This way we can see if a hotfix will address your problem.  There is a very old hotfix that addressed an error 5 code.

Also can you provide your business type, and also if you use hold, layaway, workorder, and anything other than regular Sales Transactions.  Just need more information.

Do You have any custom addons installed on the system or station that is having the problem.

It could be a connection issue, a OLEDB driver issue, or a jacked up SQL Server.

This is not a normal error message.  Each time I have seen this it turns out to be a corrupt sql server, or a addon that is causing a problem.

To test whether Offline Db is synchronizing you need to perform a blind close at the end of daily transactions before performing Z report. This can be done using F5>blindclose
