Delete a vendor account is not possible

We have a vendor account per accident twice in the system. No transactions are made on the account 745422 we want to delete, but we are not able to delete the account. The error says: unable to return DimensionAttributeValue record for 745422. 

We use an interface to import the vendors into D365 and they are imported into more companies than one.

What could be the problem here?

    Hello Inge Klumpenhouwer,

    With this line as you mentioned "We use an interface to import the vendors into D365 and they are imported into more companies than one", do you mean that the same vendor is published in more than one legal entity ?

    Can you check in Global address book if this is allowing you to merge both these records and retain / keep just only one record in system which you want to maintain!

    Organization administration > Global address book > Global address book.

    Yes, I did found this too, but not clear when this feature is going to be delivered. Is there somewhere I can find this?

    When I try to merge the two vendors, its says: The records cannot be merged.

    I did select both global Id, chose merged and in the screen I get, I select the Id I want to retain and validate. Before  I did this, I removed the bank account which was set on the record I wanted to delete. Is there anything else I have to check before merging?

    Hello Inge Klumpenhouwer,

    Is the same vendor record is created "twice" in the All vendors form?

    If yes; then have you set the number sequence for new vendor creation as "Manual" ?

    System will not allow you to merge same record if available in the same form.

    But if a vendor is also created as a customer; then system will allow you to merge 2 party IDs for the same vendor and customer and retain only 1 party ID which will be linked with both vendor and customer.

    there is change of party association on vendor master, could use that also to change the existing association and then try and delete and suggest

    Hi Inge,

    Scott provided the reason why you have the error. Every attempt on changing something on the global address book (party) side will still not enable you to delete the vendor. It would require some debugging and development skills to find a solution to delete it now.

    You can also reach out to Microsoft Support. They probably got some requests already to delete some vendors in another way then using the user interface.

    typically once there are transactions on vendor, it should not be deleted as it would be needed for audit purpose

    should deactivate/put on hold
