Does GP 2010 calculate alternate BOM items in MRP ?

Hello.

I have a GP10 customer who uses manufacturing. They want to assign alternate items to some of the BOM components, with the intention that the alternate would be included in the MRP calculation when a regenration was run.

I have been through the GP10 training guide and it clearly states that MRP ignores alternate items when regenerating, so here's the question.

Has this changed in GP 2010 ? does anyone know? i have been through the whats new document for GP2010, but it lists very little about manufacturing. if it does, then i can suggest an upgrade to the customer, but i need to be 100% sure first.

You can be 100% certain that GP2010 does not include alternate items in MRP calculations. In fact, there was not alot of manufacturing enhancements from GP10 to GP2010. Better Lists - Better SRS reports - Better Excel Reports - maybe better smartlists and possibly better standard cost rollup and cost history......(although some of these may have been V10........now that I think of it. I have half a dozen mfg clients none of whom upgraded for mfg functionality. It's a shame, mfg is not on top of MBS development priority...........
