Account number for transaction type Ledger journal does not exist.

Hello all, when trying to post a fixed asset journal I get this error 'Account number for transaction type Ledger journal does not exist'. I've checked fixed asset posting profiles, account structures, ledger setup, etc and everything seems to be configured correct. Client just recently installed version 10.0.20. I did not have this issue two weeks ago while on the previous version. I've searched previous post regarding this error but was not able to apply any of the suggestion to this particular issue.

Any ideas on troubleshooting the error?

Thanks in advance for any guidance!

Issue has been corrected. The offset account for the Tax book posting profile was not included in the account structure.

Hello Alireza, from your suggestion I did create a general journal using Ledger as the account type for both sides of the entry. The debit was to an expense account and the credit to fixed acquisition balance sheet account 173300. The journal did pass validation during Simulate Posting. Strange... So it appears there's an issue when one side of the entry references account type 'Fixed Assets'. I just don't know what it could be - all configurations appear to be correct.

Hello Sheela, the account is added to the account structure. Curious though why I would need to add ledger journal account in the accounts for automatic transactions? A fixed asset acquisition type journal will pull from the FA posting profile. In my journal example above my intent is to migrate all legacy assets to the FA subledger only with a net zero effect to the trial balance. The offset ledger account that I manually enter on the journal line then is just the acquisition account used in the FA posting profile.

    Thanks for your response.

Hello CA, yes the account is part of the active accounting structure.

    Thanks for the suggestion.

Hello Ramit, yes this was working in a prior instance of UAT. The environment was refreshed recently and that's when the posting issue occurred. The client has been on D365 for two years now and just recently asked to configure the fixed assets module. All of my configuration and testing in their UAT has been successful until their recent refresh from Production. After the refresh I re-imported the fixed asset data management template. All configurations are the same as before the refresh.  NOTE: I just found out today that the client did reach out to Microsoft for guidance. The MS tech had them run a trace on the transaction and it appears that there may be an issue with a customization that was developed last year. That's strange because the customization would have been in the previous UAT instance when my testing was successful. I will work with one of my developers to troubleshoot further.

    Thanks for responding.

    Hi BarryR,

Have you tested "Simulate posting" function in a general journal by using main account for fixed asset acquisition against ledger account 173300  to control if these main accounts are active for posting in your company?

    Hi,

Please verify if you have defined the Ledger Journal account in the accounts for automatic transactions. Also make sure the account is added in the account structure.

    Thanks,

    Sheela

    Hi BarryR,

Can you just confirm that your account is part of the active "Accounting Structure?

    Thnaks,

Is this working in your previous version? If yes, I would suggest to raise a support ticket to MS for faster resolution and fix from PG team
