Send Email from Dynamics 365 with Application User

Posted on by 675

Hello All,

We have created one application user for our Dynamics 365 environment. We have created one .Net application hosted on Azure which uses this Application User and Create record in Crm. What I need to do is, to send an email on behalf of Created BY (Here in this case it's Application User) from Dynamics 365. Is it possible to send email from Dynamics 365 with Application User? What other steps i need to do to create in Exchange Server for Application User?

Okay. So your main issue is that this user is not configured correctly.  You need to have that test & enable as success.

As this is office3y5 uaer, yoi need to ipdate the email id in o365 admin center and also add the mailbox for it.

In crm you only need to do test & enable but one the mailbox is configured in exchange online

    Hope this helps.

RE: Send Email from Dynamics 365 with Application User

Yes, i have done that multiple times.  In the Alerts, I am getting error "The email message "Test Message" cannot be sent. Make sure that the credentials specified in the mailbox are correct and have sufficient permissions for sending email. Then, enable the mailbox for email processing."

Actually Let me explain in more detail:

    1) I have created App User using following link:

    community.dynamics.com/.../how-to-configure-dynamics-365-s2s-authentication

    2) So while creating App User in CRM with Application ID, i have used Email Address provided by client (Not sure if Exchange record is available with that email address or not).

    3) I have configured Mailbox in CRM for this Application User and previously it was giving me error that, Your Office 365 Admin needs to approve this.

    4) I don't have rights so my client told me he has approved and now I am getting this error.

So I am wondering if I need to do anything from the exchage side for this scenario? DO we need to add new exchange license for sending email?

Did you do test & enable mailbox for this user? Setting >> Email Configuration >> {Open the existing configuration} >> Mailboxes ?? select the user >> Click on test & Enable

Yes, as mentioned above, you need to configure the email configuration first and also need to do a test & enable mailbox for the user. Once the test is passed, you should be able to send the email from that user.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks Ravi for your reply. I am not trying to send email on behalf of any other user. I am using application user, so Created BY = Application User.  So i need to make sure system is going to send an email with Email From as Application User.  I just need to confirm, is it possible that Application User can send email? Do i need to create this User in Exchange? What other steps I need to do? I have done all required steps from CRM side.

RE: Send Email from Dynamics 365 with Application User

    Hi,

You first need to ensure that you have configured email synchronization for your CRM i.e. as a user, you are able to send email from your crm system.

    technet.microsoft.com/.../mt622056.aspx

    docs.microsoft.com/.../set-up-server-side-synchronization-of-email-appointments-contacts-and-tasks

Once this is done, you need to ensure that you have the permissions set for users i.e.

    1) The user which is sending the email should have 'Send Email as Another User' privilege

    2) The user which will be used in the email to send should have "Allow other Microsoft Dynamics CRM users to send email on your behalf"

    community.dynamics.com/.../261350

To send an email, you can refer this sample-

    msdn.microsoft.com/.../hh210217.aspx

    Hope this helps.
