Microsoft Dynamics GP (Archived)

ODBC driver settings

Posted on by 60

Hi,

I have installed a trial version of Dynamics GP in order to check that I can access the SQL Server database. However, I can only access system tables, not the data for the dummy company Fabricant.

Has anyone else been suucessful in accessing the Fabricant database?

I looked up that tool, I think you'd be better off just using SQL server Management studio. It will allow you to do what that DaFT tool does but you won't have ODBC issues. If you're using SQL express a you can download the management studio from the MS website.

Alternatively you could create a new ODBC and see if that works, try settting the default DB to 'TWO'.

    DaFT database fishing tool.

The software is only of use to me if I can access it via ODBC unfortunately.

    hi Teresa,

You should be able to access the data through SQL server management studio. This doesn’t require and ODBC.

What are you using to access the data using the ODBC?

    Hi Ian,

I am trying to link to the SQL Dbase through the ODBC. When I go to the ODBC settings in Administrative Tools on my PC, I can see an existing ODBC configuration called Dynamics GP. However, this only allows access to system data. I was wondering whether it is possible to set up a driver which will access the dummy data.

    Thanks,

    Teresa

    Hi VC,

How are you trying to access the tables - by launching GP or by linking to the SQL Dbase through the ODBC, with for example XL? Have you looked up the ODBC settings for GP?

    Ian.
