GP Login Issue on One Workstation and One Workstation Only

Hello:

Scenario:  GP 2010 (11.00.1860) is in place.  The server and workstations are all 64-bit and all have the 32-bit ODBC shortcut.  "sa" can login to the server and any workstation just fine.  The GP administrator creates a new GP user from his workstation.  That user can login to the GP install on the SQL server box just fine and on any workstation just fine--except for the GP administrator's workstation.   This behavior has only happened within the last couple of months.  Up until then, the administrator was able to create new users and test the login from his workstation.

The error received is the famous "The login failed.  Attempt to login again or contact your system administrator" error.

The OBDC connections and drivers are the same on the server and all workstations including this "weird workstation".

We copied the dynamics.dic file from a working workstation.  Same result.  Then, we copied the whole GP code folder from a working workstation.  Same result.

Next, for the heck of it, we recreated the ODBC connection on this weird workstation.  Same result.

There is no firewall in place.

This is probably the strangest thing that I have ever seen, and I have seen some strange stuff over the last fifteen years.

I don't see anything in any of the KB articles that address this error.

Thoughts?

John

Since we were able to resolve this in the Parnter forum I will close this out.

Very good.  Yes, once again, I apologize for forgetting to update this Commmunity.  For those who are wondering what the resolution was, I created a dexsql.log and discovered thaat the GP user ID from this workstation only was trying to login to a database (by default) called "Genesis", which represents a separate software app.  I advised the client to uninstall and reinstall Genesis.  If that doesn't resolve the problem, he can contact Genesis tech support.
