Changing MO status from Closed to Released

Hi,

As we live stressfull periods, so do our users... i've got a situation where the wrong MO has been closed using the MO close window.

The MO was in Released status and issuing had not yet taken place, but the material was allocated. Now the MO is currently in production stage but the MO close action reverse allocated the material, and created a Journal posting of remaining Labor and Machine time and auto backflush items.

Since my company is pharmaceutical, it is nearly impossible to simply change MO number and start over again, so what are my options?

I've tried Edit MO Status but the window will not give me my MO for any status change... And the documentation does not refer to MO statuses Closed to something else.

Any ideas? Can i change the status to Complete in WO010032 and then use Edit MO Status to reverse any JE trx?

Thanks for your help,
Jason Chung

GP does not allow reopening a closed MO.  Understanding the pharm restrictions, you will need to create a new MO and clearly document the issue, the solution, and the reason for/effects of the solution.

    The sum of all fears!

I kind of figured that was going to be the ultimate sacrafice. I have already sent my user on a crusade to approve the above mentionned actions.

Kind of strange that GP won't allow you to undo such a critical step in MO processing or offer some kind of warning when so many steps are missing in the mo activity...

     Sounds good,
    Jason

It is a proper control.  Manufacturing allows an MO to be completed yet postings to the MO can continue.  Once you close the MO, variances are posted, and GL Closing entries that guarantee that WIP is cleared out are performed.  Simply reopening the MO may not be able to reverse these entries, especially if parts have been sold/consumed.   And while SQL can be used to reopen the MO, it will not reverse these transactions, leaving you in a real large pile of ........well don't even think about it.

And I just watched "The Sum of All Fears" yesteday.
