Is it possible to disable updating of originating invoice cost in the Item Vendor Maintenance?

Do you have experience in writing triggers? You can write an Update trigger that will restore the original value each time the invoice posting attempts to change the value. Once in place, the trigger needs to be disabled to make desirable changes to the table. I have to do this this week for a client.
