word templates - adding new tables

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

I need to add the Vendor Address fields to a modfied template for AP Remittance so that I print off any that do not have email addresses. I've managed to modify the template for logo's etc but cant find a way of linking new tables.

Thanks

One added piece of information. Be sure you have the correct report sections set up in report writer. You are wanting to add the customer address table - that is a one to many, you may need an additional section if you need to group.

    Kind regards,

I am assuming you are referencing Word templates.  You cannot link additional tables within the template.  You have to do that within report writer.  You then will have to export that "new" report writer to XML.  Then, modify the current template.  Once within Word, you have to remove the current source, then add a new source (the new source being the file location/name of the xml you saved).  This will bring in the new tables.  Also, remember, the template will not have the field(s) unless it is alread on the report writer document, so before exporting to xml, be sure all the fields you want to capture in the Word template are on the report writer report.

The following youtube vide posted by msdynsupport shows you step by step how to do this.

    Best regards,

    Dale
