Customizing the Priority code field in Task

Posted on by 80

Hi,

In the Tasks view, I would like to do the sorting based on the Priority field in Task. Currently it sorts based on the Alphabetical order which I didnt like and would like to sort where the results should show in the order of (Low, Nornal, High) or (High, Normal, Low).

So, I thought of customizing the Priority code field by adding the 1,2,3 infront of the values. But looks like the field customization is not possible OOB.

Please advise if there is any other way to achieve this?

Thanks.

    Hi JeevanJ,

After my testing, this is indeed the situation.

The priority field in the task entity can be edited but no new options can be added.

Maybe you can create a new option set field with options you want and named it with priority, then you can replace the old with the new priority in task entity.

For existing tasks, you can try to use workflow to update new priority field.

    Hi Leah,

Thanks for responding. I am currently trying for the Tasks entity priority code and I can edit but font see an option to save the changes or add the new values to the priority code.

    Thanks.

    Hi JeevanJ ,

Yes. Currently it sorts based on the Alphabetical order.

But the Priority field customization is possible OOB, you can add any infront of the values.

Go Settings > Customizations > Customize the System > Entities > Cases > Fields to click the Priority field.
