How do I integrate the receiving of non inventory purchase order items

Posted on by 30

Hi, we are a non for profit service organisation and use GP2010. I have used integration manager to import non inventory purchase order items but I am unable to integrate the next steps of receipt and match of supplier invoices. Does anyone have a solution for this problem?

Thanks, Don

RE: How do I integrate the receiving of non inventory purchase order items

Hi Don - I was a GP Consultant for ten years before I finally found a permanent solution for data feeds/integrations into GP or for one time full transaction history data conversions to GP. I'm not sure if your requirements are a onetime data conversion or an ongoing data integration into GP from some source but I'll pass along a great company to work with either way. I continually came across customers of ours who had tried Integration Manager, Scribe and a number of other "tools" that were just glorified data "mapping" clones wrapped around GP eConnect. Integration Manager and these other generalized field "mapping" tools did nothing to solve the problem of "applying" PM Manual Checks to PM Transaction Invoices or applying type 5 PM Credit Memos to PM Invoice Transactions. There is also no data cleanup scripts, data conversion scripts to prepare the data and no preprocessing data validation.

Many of our clients were needing full Transaction History data conversions from QuickBooks to Dynamics GP or from Dynamics SL to Dynamics GP with full Inventory, Purchase Order, Item Receiving's and match to Invoices. The data conversions were always a major headache when bringing in Transactions and the full "Apply To" links to GP. The Batch posting "Edit Check" errors were most of the time so unclear as to what the problem was that we spent weeks debugging even the smallest data conversions to GP. Similar problems were encountered with customers who needed real-time integration of data into GP. Finally our Microsoft Rep. at the time years ago recommended a company named "Conversion Services Corp" CSC that was the solution for us and here is a link to their website: http://www.conversionservicescorp.com/Layouts/convert_to_dynamicsgp.htm.

They have a full suite of Dynamics GP Integration and Data Conversions Tools and services and a staff of “Conversion Coaches” that has saved so many of our customers GP projects over the years. The big difference is that they have highly specialized, customized data mapping, data conversion and data cleanup tools and a library of scripts that have been used on thousands of data conversion and integration projects. And it's this time tested set of tools, scripts and knowledgeable data conversion techs that enable the type of solutions we needed and may help you as well. Hopefully they can solve your integration or GP data conversion issue but I wanted to post some details in answer to your question because I get these questions so many times at Microsoft Convergence conferences each year and from other GP consultants who have suffered through using Integration Manager and other "data mapping" clones.

    Good luck, JY
