Inventory Adjustment Rounding or Decimal place issues

I'm looking for confirmation of my theory or to get other theories, no matter how crazy.

I have an environment that is having issues when posting an Inventory Adjustment Journal.  Here's the scenario:

1. Export On Hand Inventory to Excel

2. Enter the Quantity from On Hand Inventory in to an Inventory Adjustment Journal to set inventory to 0

(Yes, I know a counting journal would be better, but they don't want to use one)

3. Post Journal and get the message (... not enough inventory...)

If you reduce the Quantity slightly, the Journal will post.

Example:

On Hand Inventory shows:  245.65

Inventory Adjustment shows: 245.65

Get the error message that you don't have enough inventory

Change Quantity to : 245.64

Journal posts successfully.

MY Theory is that, prior to my working on the environment, someone changed the EDT's and now we have rounding issues.  What I want to know is if anyone else has had this issue and if there is a "standard" AX way to fix it or if I need to go deep diving in the AOT for answers.

Thanks!

It's possible to get into this mess without modifying EDTs. If AX is storing on-hand inventory to 3 or 4 decimal places, you'll be able to see it by looking at records in InventSum directly in SQL. Use the InventDim table to find the InventDimId of the line that error'd. Then look in InventSum for the record with that InventDimId and ItemId.

Yes, if you change EDT decimal, you will face this issue

so you can compare your EDT to check changes

    Thanks Guy and Mahmoud,

I took a look at InventSum and it is storing to 4 decimal places.  Taking a look at the UOM's, I see that we have Feet set to 4 decimal places and all others are either 2 or 0.  There is also a conversion between a UOM with 4 and with 2 decimal places, which I'm sure does not help the situation, but my guess is that this is where it has all started.  Thanks for the help!
