Running search in specific view

Hi,

Our organization use Microsoft Dynamics CRM  2011. 

when i run a search using the "*" sign in a specific view (not system view), i get results from the entire DB instead getting the results from the specific view. 

The only way i found to get search results only from the specific view I've created is to run advanced search on that view and filter the specific field. 

Is there any less complex solution out there ?

    Hi,

    You are right - the quick search will search all records using the filter defined in the Quick Search view. Outlook used to search only the current view, but that changed with CRM2011 UR12 to be consistent with the web client. See support.microsoft.com/.../2669792

    Advanced find is the only option to search for a specific set of records.

    Depending on what you are trying to search for, sometimes it makes more sense to use a filter on a column - you can apply custom filters to text fields (such as names) to construct things like "Contains: kobiv" if that achieves the sort of results you want.

    If you want to search for a single string across multiple possible columns, this won't do that, but I find that in reality many users already know which column they expect to contain the string they are entering in a lot of use cases.
