Nav2009 to sp1 & webservice

Hi all experts:

I have two quick questions need your advice.
One : could directly use Nav2009 sp1 client to open Nav2009 database?  so the client can use web service function with double-byte support; is there any bad consequence in the future.
Second: when they use web service, they have to deploy web service and database service in one server. If they deploy in two separate server, A login failure error is caused. We already tried all we know method in Nav Install help file, but it’s not work.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

You can open lower version database in higher version but it will get converted in higher version, so don't open it in NAV2009 SP 1. If you want, you can try with test database so your will not get affected.

If you use web service on two different server then localhost get changes then how you can manage them.(http://localhost:7047/DynamicsNAV/WS/services)

    e.g. http://SERVERA:7047/DynamicsNAV/WS/services and http://SERVERAB:7047/DynamicsNAV/WS/services.

Do I understnad you right that you are having issues settignup NAV Webservices when the database is hosted on a different machine?

I assume the question was why Microsoft Dynamics NAV Server(NST) service and Microsoft Dynamics NAV Business Webservice(NWeb) service run on the same machine for the NWeb to work. The answer is that NWeb has some dependency on the NST which means that for NWeb to work, the NST should be installed on the same machine as the NWeb and also that it should be in a running state.
