Is there any built-in functionality within Business Central to have BOM and Routing Versions automatically selected based on User ID (or any other variables)?

Trying to have specific BOM and Routing versions selected based on the location - for a company with multiple locations within the same business central instance.

Hi, as far as I know there is no such feature in the standard, this needs to be customized.

Hopefully other experts can give you better advice.

As our colleague points out, this isn't a standard configuration; you could rely on third-party solutions if you want to enhance this module as well.

Based on Location - Yes

You can create Stockkeeping Units for the Finished Good based on Location. Each SKU record can have a different BOM/Router assigned. If the SKU is blank, the system will default to what is on the Item Card.

Business Central does not have built-in functionality to automatically select BOM and Routing Versions based on User ID. However, you can achieve this through different approaches. You can manually manage BOM and routing versions by assigning location-specific work centers or setting active versions for each location.

If automation is needed, custom AL code can be developed to select versions dynamically based on location or user roles. Alternatively, Power Automate or Power Apps can be used to trigger workflows based on predefined conditions.
