Hi, is there a way I can use plugin to track when user export records to excel from CRM?

Business needs to know if any user export more than 1000 records from CRM.

thanks

Haven't tried this but guess RetrieveMultiple should trigger on export. Check if you can differentiate it to be on "export" event and you should be able to track

If the objective is to not export more than 1000 records at a time, you can restrict MaxRecordsForExportToExcel  property in Organisation table.

However, user can export multiple times and download more than 1000 records.

Retrievemultiple will be called, but will not be able to distinguish export.

One possible solution is to change Export to excel button on specific entities to custom one, do processing to count the number of records, store or process as needed and then call generic export function.

    Hi Litonn,

Not using out of box functionality at least.

You can investigate a variation of the answer of the below thread - social.microsoft.com/.../crm-2011-restrict-export-to-excel-to-one-entity

where instead of raising an exception to stop the process, a counter can be incremented.

    Hope this helps.

Hi, the plugin does not distinguish if it is a export to excel event or not. I tried to customize the control. I can only get total record count which can't be correct because user did not click on the "Ok" button in the dialog box yet. Is it possible if I can add an event to the "Ok" button and check which radio button user select?

    thanks

Hi all, not sure if I am too late here...probably

But Rocket CRM has a tool that can track who has exported date, showing entity, fields, number of records, date and the fetch XML
