Production Order Reset status

I'm trying to track down how to reset the status on a production order that was doubled. It looks like order was posted already, but I can't get why it won't go to release to delete the production order.  When I delete it obviously says it cannot in the production status. I get that, but why I can't I go from start to release to put the inventory back in(error below)? The error says Quantity 4.72 cannot be received because items have already been returned or have been issued with different dimensions.

One likely cause for this could be if default receipt and issue location is set up for this item then product might have consumed from location L1 but default receipt location can be L2 which will be used by system when picking list gets reversed.

Can you try reversing the specific item by using the manual picking list line and then try to reset the production order?

When I go to look for the picking list that particular item is not in the picking list(screenshot below).  Should I add it with a negative amount to reverse this?

Yes, please try adding the item (having an issue) manually and specify the correct location from where it was consumed from.

Let me know if that makes a difference?

4298 is the journal that is your issue as per the original message, not the one pictured here.

The weird thing is that Journal 4298 doesn't exist. It's the next journal in line once you create new. I have an even balance in this production order and can't still get it to release. I thought I had it, but created it on production and it still fails.

It is creating that journal, or trying to create it, as per the reversal. The message means that you have either already reversed the line with item 5SM0108, it is was issued with dimensions different to what is on the production BOM, but you need to look at the actual transactions of that item and investigate it.

Sorry I'm new to this and being it's dealing with Brazil makes it worse...lol.

No it's not creating that journal.  It's just odd that if I do a new journal when in the picking list that is the next number in line.  I do see where they deducted an extra line in the transactions. I'm not sure if that will effect it.

No it will not create the journal - it fails and the infolog tells you why. You need to look at what was posted for the item against that production order. This looks like your second image but there are no quantities - find out why you have a deducted line and resolve that first.

Is it suppose to create a journal once I try and reset the statue to "Released"?

I don't know why, but they created multiple journals one with a positive consumption and then a negative consumption. They did this 4 times.  I would of thought the even number of journals would even everything out.

Yes, when you are resetting the production order it has to un-post everything that has been posted.

As you saw from the infolog and your inventory transactions there is a transaction against the production order that is not purchases - you need to clear that one first.

If they created a negative journal and linked it all as per the the standard procedure it should work, but the fact you cannot reset and there are inventory transactions not closed indicates something went wrong or was done differently, and the in-balance is causing the issue.
